Jacqueline Cheung

About Jacqueline

Jacqueline is a registered clinical counsellor and music therapist whose own journey has involved navigating bicultural expectations. Much of Jacqueline’s work has grown out of walking alongside individuals and families as they move through fragmented systems of care, supporting them through mental health challenges, minority stress, substance use, and addiction. Her lived experiences as a queer, second‑generation immigrant continually shape the way she connects with others—grounded in curiosity, humility, and a commitment to providing affirming, justice‑oriented, and culturally responsive care.

Approach to Counselling & Music Therapy

Jacqueline’s approach is guided by relational and strengths‑based principles and informed by an intersectional lens. She believes that life’s challenges are an inherent part of being human and aims to support individuals and communities in feeling more connected, fulfilled, and able to move through life with greater acceptance and flexibility.

Her work is also shaped by ongoing learning about reconciliation and equity. She is attentive to how systems influence individual and community well‑being and strives to disrupt traditional power structures by centring self‑determination, integrity, and community voice. Jacqueline works collaboratively to create a non‑judgmental, relational space where different perspectives and possibilities can emerge. She values genuine connection, inclusive care, and self‑compassion.

Jacqueline understands that therapy looks different for everyone. She aims to meet each person with openness and kindness, allowing the work to develop naturally through shared understanding and connection.
